About NKA - History

Founded in 1985 by Don Janowski, the NKA is a membership-based association of independent tracks, clubs, and promoters of kart and small vehicle racing across the United States. Throughout the 80's and 90's, Janowski grew the company based on a simple philosophy that is still deeply rooted in everything NKA does today: give local tracks great products and services at affordable prices. To this day, NKA prides itself on being a true partner for independent track owners nationwide.

By the late 1990's, NKA had established itself as one of the premier track-services providers in motorsports. Since those early days of the NKA, it has become the largest small vehicle sanctioning body in the United States. NKA sanctions almost 400 member facilities, and processes over 4000 events per year through its Noblesville, Indiana office.

With NKA running strong, the Janowski family was instrumental in the formation of Superkarts! USA™ (better known as SKUSA). However, in 2006 SKUSA was sold allowing Don to semi-retire and his son (now NKA CEO), Joe Janowski, to focus their efforts on growing the true foundation of motorsports: local and regional karting.

NKA has enjoyed incredible stability and steady growth and has even expanded to include other forms of small racing vehicles such as lawn mower racing, Legends™ cars, and more. Today, the NKA is still growing by creating programs to help track owners and promoters see accelerated growth by building stronger businesses and better "customer experiences".

The NKA has excelled at its business through its attention to detail, and vast knowledge of the many aspects of the business of karting and the world of motorsports insurance and litigation. In fact, current President Joe Janowski also works as an expert witness in motorsports liability cases.

NKA has also excelled thanks to the many member facilities that have been with it over the years. While you can occasionally find an NKA ad on various karting publications, it is our customers that have been our best advertising. It is interesting to note here that the very first NKA facility, the Columbus Kart Club in Columbus, Indiana is still an NKA member facility.

We invite you to contact the NKA today to find out more about our programs that will help you "INSURE YOUR RACING SUCCESS"!
